Frankfort

Norman G. Spears

Norman was born November 20, 1939, in a cabin in Pea Ridge, Kentucky, to Hershel and Lovie Mae Spears.  At the same time, his two little sisters were dying.  In a few years to follow, another sister was born, and then his father passed away.

He soon came to live on the outskirts of Frankfort in Hogville.  He attended Sunday school under a tree while Reverend Smith and the men built Victory Chapel.

He soon moved into several downtown apartments.  The square and empty upstairs buildings became his playground.

His love of the Smoke Shops became his security as socializing with all of his friends gave him belonging.

At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving 3 years on the USS Agile, a small wooden mine sweeper where he loved being at sea.

Years passed and he met the love of his life, Ruthie Spears.  Together they had one daughter, Kecia Leigh Spears.  His family was his world.

He drove a semi for General Battery/Exide for 25 years before retiring and finally being able to enjoy all the missed time at home with his family.

Norman is preceded in death by sons Michael and Timothy Spears, sisters Sue Leonard, Anna Belle Spears, and Rose Marie Spears, nephew Jimmy Leonard, and granddaughter Ashley Spears.

Norman is survived by wife Ruthie Spears, sons Gene Spears, Quint Villars (and Brenda Villars), and Scott Villars, daughters, Vickie Murden and Kecia Beltz (and Brian Beltz) as well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

There will be no services at this time.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

God grant him peace and may he rest in Your arms.  Amen.
