Billy Joe Hindsley, 83, of Frankfort, passed away at his home on Friday, December 31, 2021. He was born December 31, 1938, in Frankfort, to Charles E. and Ersie Margaret (Bushong) Hindsley. He married Janet Payne on November 13, 1971, and she survives.
Billy was raised by his grandparents and attended Jackson Township and Frankfort High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He also served in the Indiana National Guard. Billy worked as a truck driver for 33 years before becoming a dispatcher for Transport Services. He was a 34-year member of the Elks and a 27-year member of the American Legion and enjoyed woodworking.
Billy is survived by his wife of 50 years; daughter, Loretta Chambers of Frankfort; daughter-in-law, Carla Cottrell Hindsley Johnson; and grandchildren, Holly Richards, Becki Jones, Billie Chambers, Terry Chambers, Katherine Chambers, Sydnee Chambers, Sebastian DeLano, and Elliott Chambers.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home~Frankfort. The funeral service with military rites will be Friday, January 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home~Frankfort, with Dr. David Fry officiating. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
